Frequently asked questions

“Does Conjur use piercing guns?”

All piercings at Conjur Piercing Arts are performed with sterile, single-use hollow needles. We do not use piercing guns of any type in our studio and strongly encourage our clientele to avoid any that do.

“What is Conjur’s minimum piercing age?”

It is important that our clients fully understand and consent to their new piercing(s). It is equally important that they understand how to properly take care of them as they are healing. For that reason, we do not pierce anyone under the age of four years old.

Please be aware that minors of any age will receive a brief pre-piercing consultation on the date of their appointment for the piercer to assess piercing viability and aftercare comprehension. Our piercer will then approve or deny the piercing based on the results of said consultation.

“Can I be pierced with my own jewelry?”

To be sure all piercings are performed with the highest quality implant grade materials for health and safety purposes, Conjur Piercing Arts does not use any outside jewelry to perform initial piercings. We have an extensive selection of high-quality, implant-grade jewelry to choose from for your new piercing and will be happy to assist you with finding a piece you will love!

“Do you accept walk-ins?”

If we have availability to see you during regular business hours, we would certainly love to! However, all clients are required to reserve their spot through our online booking service to be properly entered into our client database first. Provided we have available times remaining on the same day you are wanting to be seen, it is quick and easy to reserve that spot. If no availability remains for that day, we encourage you to book for the next available time that works for you!

“What should I do if I’m having issues with my piercing?”

If you are having any problems with your piercing, please first refer to the aftercare guidelines provided to you by your piercer (and available on our website) to ensure you are following and staying consistent with them. Most piercing complications result from improper and/or inconsistent aftercare and will resolve themselves once corrected. Please also see the section on our website titled “Common Piercing Issues” for more detailed information.

If you have a serious concern about your piercing, please make an appointment for an in-studio consultation with our piercer for assessment as soon as possible. Due to the very specific and subjective nature of piercing irritations & complications, the piercer cannot and will not diagnose any issues via phone or email.

“What are Conjur’s identification requirements?”

All clients being pierced are required to provide a current, state-issued ID or passport. In the case of minors coming in for a piercing appointment, a biological parent or legally appointed guardian is required to be in attendance and to provide their current state-issued ID or passport on behalf of the minor. Expired identification will not be accepted. Birth certificates are not required.

“Can I bring a friend/guest to my appointment?”

Due to the limited room in the piercing studio, no more than two friends may accompany a client in the room for their appointment. No one under the age of 18 will be permitted in the room during any genital piercing appointment.

“When is it safe to change my jewelry?”

The quick answer is: it varies. The proper time to change your jewelry depends on several variables such as the current condition of the piercing (if you are actively experiencing irritation or complications), how often you anticipate changing it out, what type of jewelry you’re changing it to and more. The aftercare information we provide includes estimates on when to downsize your jewelry as well as reasonable time frames for healing depending on the type of piercing you’ve had performed.

We strongly recommend that you return to our studio for your first change so that the piercer can properly assess your healing and safely perform the change for you with appropriately fitting jewelry.

“Can/Should I use numbing cream before an appointment?”

Due to the number of complications this can present, no piercing will be performed if a numbing agent has been applied to the piercing area beforehand.

“Under what conditions does Conjur refuse a piercing?”

Appointments will be refused/terminated for the following reasons, are enforced at the sole discretion of the piercer and cannot be contested:

  • Client communicates that they no longer wish to proceed with any piercing (no piercing will be performed without client consent).

  • Client exhibits erratic/unpredictable behavior during a piercing that could result in injury to the piercer and/or client (excessive movement, grabbing, etc.).

  • Piercer determines the client is intoxicated or otherwise impaired.

  • Disruptive or disrespectful conduct from client and/or attending guests.

  • Client arrives to appointment without current or acceptable identification.

  • Client arrives to appointment without proper supervision for an attending child.

  • Client arrives to appointment with a numbing agent applied to the piercing area.

  • Client refuses to follow piercer’s instructions while in the studio.

The piercer reserves the right to cancel any appointment for any reason even if not specifically mentioned here.

“Can I photograph / video / live stream during my appointment?”

Photos are allowed only after first obtaining permission from the piercer. Videos and live streaming in the studio are strictly prohibited. Please respect both the piercer’s and client’s right to privacy and consent. Any unauthorized recording will result in the immediate cancellation of the appointment.
