If you need assistance changing or removing jewelry, Conjur is happy to lend a gentle and experienced hand to make it a fast and easy process for you.

Jewelry change appointments are ideal for piercings in difficult to reach areas, if you are having trouble disassembling your jewelry, or if you have longer fingernails that prevent you from handling jewelry in tight spaces. It is especially important to seek a professional’s assistance if your piercing is experiencing signs of irritation, discomfort and/or swelling so that further trauma to the piercing can be averted. Our piercer will inspect your piercing to determine the proper fit and style to keep your piercing happy and healthy and perform changes quickly and smoothly.

  • Jewelry changes are performed at $10 for clients providing their own jewelry (piercer reserves the right to refuse the change if the jewelry is of improper size and/or style for the piercing).

  • Jewelry selected from our studio for the sole purpose of changes are performed at a $5 setup fee (in addition to jewelry cost).

  • If you are having jewelry changed at the same time as an appointment for a new piercing, the setup fee is waived.

Downsizing / Upsizing Jewelry

When getting a new piercing, a reasonable amount of swelling is to be expected for the first month to few months of healing. Anticipating this, our piercer will install a jewelry assembly of appropriate length to ensure adequate room for swelling to safely expand without putting pressure against the jewelry. Once initial swelling has subsided, it is important to downsize the longer portion of your jewelry so that it fits comfortably against your piercing. Decreasing jewelry length limits excessive movement and potential for accidental snagging which causes irritation and the likelihood of the piercing swelling again.

Expected downsizing times vary depending on the type of piercing you’ve received, how many you are healing simultaneously, and how well you are following aftercare instruction and avoiding external irritations to the piercing. We’ve provided commonly expected downsizing times for your convenience but advise that you see our piercer to make a proper assessment and perform the change for you.

Alternatively, it may be necessary to upsize your piercing if swelling is more than anticipated or regular irritation becomes problematic. If there is not enough room for your jewelry to rest comfortably or the front or back ends start to embed into the tissue of your piercing, it likely needs to be replaced with a longer piece to better accommodate the increased swelling. Please immediately book a consultation appointment with our piercer to evaluate and perform this change as doing so yourself can cause additional irritation and discomfort. Our piercer will also help you to monitor your piercing’s health and determine additional/specialized aftercare procedures to help restore a proper healing trajectory for you.
